Keeping the water in your swimming pool clean and safe is critical to the health and safety of your family, friends, and neighbors who use your pool.
Most backyard pools have pumps that push the pool water through specialized pool filters, which remove dirt, debris, and other impurities from the water before pumping the newly-cleaned water back into the pool.
Pool filters are a critical step in maintaining the safety of your pool. But they also can be one of the most intimidating parts of your pool’s equipment. They are big, often noisy machines that work automatically. Yet most require regular maintenance and cleaning in order to work properly.
Pool Cleaning Boca Raton — Types of Pool Filters
The type of pool filter you have depends on how big your pool is and how often it is used. Many commercial and institutional pools use diatomaceous earth filters, also known as DE filters. These are big, powerful filters that are strong enough to filters out even the smallest microscopic filters and generally are used only in the biggest, busiest pools.
Sand filters are smaller and less powerful, but no less safe. As their name implies, they use sand to filter out impurities from the pool water. Sand filters, which often resemble large spheres, are commonly used in home swimming pool systems.
But a new type of filter, called a cartridge filter, is becoming increasingly popular among residential and commercial pools alike. Cartridge filters feature a similar filtering media as DE filters but feature removable cartridges that can be either cleaned and returned or replaced altogether when they get dirty.
